Pretty sure that I’ve read (and almost always enjoyed) every issue of Big Hands up to this point, but this is the first one where I actually found myself laughing out loud. I have no idea where this issue’s stories fit in Aaron’s general chronology—but this is one where he actually broaches sex and relationships (or a stunted, nerve-addled lack thereof), as well as other topics including work, living in the South, friendship, societal expectations and interactions and, generally, just living/stumbling life with more questions than answers. It may sound heady, and it is—the guy can write—but there are moments in here that are absolutely hilarious. He’s got self-effacement down to a science. When you couple that with a dry, brilliant, and inexorable willingness to try and get down to the bottom of things—trying to figure out why he and the people around him continually do what they do, even if it’s to their detriment—it’s a compulsive read, and I think each issue’s getting better and better. The short and less personal pieces about art, youth culture, mortality, etc. that he inserted in the middle of the zine really cut the flow of the read, but soon enough we’re back to reading about Aaron’s general torpor and confusion. Besides, that’s a pretty minor complaint. When I think back to the fifth issue of my zine, I’ll freely admit that this dude’s kicking some ass pretty consistently.  –Keith Rosson (Aaron,
